In-person practical training/hackathon with pydna - an open-source Python library for simulating DNA engineering workflows

Might be of interest to folks who can attend this free, in-person only event in Copenhagen (DTU), co-organised by @manulera

Registration deadline 5 September CEST

For those who can’t attend in-person, the pydna link (see below), also has full documentation and some example notebooks to work with too!

Join the pydna Hackathon — Copenhagen (DTU), Sept 11–12, 2025

:dna: Are you a wet lab scientist doing cloning or DNA engineering, or a bioinformatician curious about molecular biology? :seedling: Passionate about Open Source and Open Science?

:bulb: Learn how to use pydna, an open-source Python library for simulating DNA engineering workflows like PCR, cloning, and primer design.

:busts_in_silhouette: Team up with fellow scientists and developers to build a notebook, script, pipeline, or mini-app that tackles your problems or a wider challenge in DNA engineering.

:hammer_and_wrench: What can you build during the hackathon? Here are a couple of ideas to spark your imagination:

  • A python notebook to automate the design of Gibson Assembly primers to clone genes into your favourite vector.
  • A mini-app for designing cloning strategies for homologous recombination or CRISPR genome editing in your favourite organism.

:seedling: Whether you’re new to Python or already a coding wizard, there’s a place for you!
