Recruit for iDEC Competition

Hi everyone! I’d like to promote a synthetic biology related competition here. The International Directed Evolution Competition (iDEC: idec.io) is an international public welfare initiative based in Cambridge, UK, dedicated to building a scientific community to facilitate education, technology sharing, and academic exchange. The competition focuses on directed evolution, a powerful technique in synthetic biology that mimics natural selection in the laboratory to create biomolecules with enhanced or novel functions. Its applications span medicine (e.g., engineering antibodies or improving CRISPR-Cas systems), agriculture (e.g., creating pest-resistant crops), and environmental science (e.g., enzymes for degrading plastics or pollutants). This competition offers an opportunity for the young generation of scientists to explore directed evolution and synthetic biology, and further brings new forces to the scientific and industrial circles.

This is a newer competition with a smaller scale compared to iGEM. We are currently looking for more teams and judges to participate, more panel speakers, and more volunteers for the whole event. The registration for year 2025 will begin soon, and if anyone is interested, feel free to contact me here through Reclone, or through my email: 1020705322h@gmail.com. Please spread the words and I really appreciate your help!
