Hi All
ICGEB has opened a call to fund meetings and courses in the second half of 2027 and we have discussed within the Reclone Network for some time the idea of putting in a proposal for a larger meeting focused on synthetic biology, local biomanufacturing and other related topics. The focus of the speakers and programme would be on research being conducted in the global south (not just ICGEB member countries). Having attended a lot of international meetings on these topics, that isn’t normally what happens.
The event would be under the following category:
- ICGEB Meeting: organised at the ICGEB Components (Trieste, Italy; New Delhi, India; Cape Town, South Africa), ICGEB scientists as co-organisers, 250-300 participants, invited speakers and selected oral presentations, poster sessions, registration fee. Local organisation + maximum contribution requested Euro 50,000 although should aim at self-sustainability.
The closing date for applications is 12th October 2026 - would anyone be interested to join an organising team and draft the proposal?
Rough initial draft and proposed meeting time to follow!
Jenny
